DANCING outside, around, over, under, through THE BOX
Intermediate/Advanced
Communication requires the ability to filter true intent and meaning from the noise. In dancing, this means increased clarity as a lead and increased listening as a follow. Joy and Bryan will share techniques, moves, tricks, and lifts to help you think outside the box and master dance communication in ways you've never thought possible. Get ready to reinvent your own dancing.

DANCE TO THE MUSIC
aka "I like to move it, move it"
Intermediate/Advanced
Why do we dance? Why do we make certain movements at certain times within the song? The honest response to this question is "The music made me do it!" The same movement can and should look entirely different when danced to different kinds of Blues. Our movements should mirror what we hear, be inspired from the elements of the song. Our dancing should be an instrument itself.

SWINGIN' THE BLUES (Int/Adv)
You know how to blues dance - you know how to swing. This is a stylin' class where you'll find the sweet spots between Swing and Blues dancing. You'll broaden your vocabulary, choose the way that *you* dance and explore the borders between Lindy and Blues so you can combine -and distinguish- the two dances. As a leader or follower, you'll step away from "doing these dances" and into "dancing these dances" -all while having lots of fun being a comfortable, playful and capable dancer.

LYRICAL BLUES DANCING (Int/Adv)
You've worked on your pulse. You've worked on your blues aesthetic. Now it's time to break the rules and bust out with creative, original movement. We'll work with matching the feel of the non-traditional blues dancing music that you'll hear at any given event -which ultimately will also help to redefine your "traditional blues" toolbox. We'll work on *rhythm* as opposed to just the beat; tricks like stretching our movement, making quick transitions and sharing movement so your partner says "wow, what did you just do?"
